The Outdoor Sanctuary
In the midst of a nature and bird sanctuary, the Helzberg Bnai-Jehuda Outdoor Sanctuary celebrates that which is sacred in Jewish life. The centerpiece is the Holy Ark, flanked by the Lions of Judah, with a reproduction of the Gezer Calendar as its background. The Gezer Calendar is the oldest agricultural calendar ever found, and the earliest known example of Hebrew writing. A mosaic floor depicting the Twelve Tribes of Israel covers the bima (raised pulpit).

בית הכנסת בחיק הטבע מסמל את המושגים כנסת וקהילה ואת תפקידם בהיסטוריה ובחיים יהודיים קהילתיים.ארון הקודש מעוטר בפסיפס של שבעת המינים ובמרכזו לוח גזר, הלוח החקלאי העתיק ביותר שנתגלה, ועליו כתב עברי קדום מימי שלמה המלך. רצפת הבימה מכוסה בפסיפס של סמלי 12 השבטים. משני צדי הארון ניצבים אריות, סמלי שבט יהודה המייצגים את העבר - מלכות דוד ובית המקדש, ואת העתיד בו המסורת היהודית מלמדת שמבית דוד יצא המשיח ויביא עמו עידן של שלום.

Sukkat Shalom
From the Biblical passage, "And Judah and Israel dwelt in safety, everyone under the vine and under the fig tree," the beautiful Larry Galblum sukkah is dedicated to peace. Shaded by grape vines and fig trees, our Sukkat Shalom provides shelter and shades a beautiful mosaic floor designed with symbols from Jewish life.

סוכת שלום
הסוכה נבנתה בהשראת הפסוק: "וישב יהודה וישראל לבטח איש תחת גפנו ותחת תאנתו מדן ועד באר שבע כל ימי שלמה" מלכים א' ה':ה'. עצי תאנה נטועים סביב הסוכה וגפן משתרגת מעליה. הרצפה מרוצפת בתמונות פסיפס של שבעת המינים, סמלי שלום וסמלים יהודיים אחרים. הסוכה מהווה נקודת פתיחה לפעילויות הנוגעות בהיבטים של השלום, ומהווה רקע מושלם לעריכת ארועי חתונה ובר/בת מצוה וארוחות תנכ"יות.

The Menorah
Decorated with almond blossoms as described in Exodus 25:34, this six-foot Menorah represents the continuity of both our traditions and our peoplehood. Originally found in the Mishkan prior to the building of the Temple, the Menorah plays a major role in our collective memory and today serves as the symbol of the modern State of Israel.

המנורה מתנשאת לגובה 2 מטר ומעוטרת בזהב ובפרחי השקדיה כמתואר בספר שמות כה':לג'. למנורה תפקיד מרכזי בזיכרון הקולקטיבי של העם והיא מסמלת את ההישרדות וההמשכיות של המסורת היהודית. מנורת המשכן היא הראשונה בסדרת מנורות שמלוות את העם היהודי לאורך ההסטוריה, עד אל המנורה של היום - סמלה של מדינת ישראל.

פסלי חזון ישעיהו נבנו ברוח הפסוק מספר ישעיה יא':ו' "וגר זאב עם כבש ונמר עם גדי ירבץ ועגל וכפיר ומריא יחדיו ונער קטן נהג בם: ופרה ודב תרעינה יחדיו ירבצו ילדיהן ואריה כבקר יאכל תבן"..... צמדי החיות המופיעות בפסוק. נבנו בגודל טבעי מאבן ומבטון.חזון ישעיה משמש כבסיס לפעילות העוסקת במעגלי השלום הקרובים: משפחה וחברים, ובמעגלים הרחוקים: עם ועולם.

זהו מרחב צבעוני הבנוי בשלושה ממדים המתאר את גן עדן ובו משולבים שמיים וארץ, שמש וירח ומים, הנחש ועץ החיים.פינה זו עוסקת בבריאת העולם ובאחריותו של האדם לאדמה ולדורות הבאים אחריו, כפי שכתוב:
- ויקח ה' אלהים את האדם וינחהו בגן-עדן לעבדה ולשמרה. בראשית ב':טו'.
- כשם שנכנסתם ומצאתם נטיעות שנטעו אחרים אף אתם היו נוטעים לבנכם. מדרש תנחומא.

The Kabbalat Shabbat Corner
Nestled among the olive trees, wheat and grapevines, this station makes use of a gat (Biblical winepress) and taboon (pita oven). "I will give you the rain for your land in season...you shall gather in your new grain, wine, and oil." Deuteronomy 11:14. Here participants focus on Eretz Yisrael in Jewish text, prayer, ritual and history through the connection of the blessings over the wine, candles and bread to the grapes, olives and wheat of the Shivat HaMinim - the Seven Species.

"ונתתי מטר ארצכם בעתו יורה ומלקוש ואספת דגנך ותירשך ויצהרך".... דברים יא':יד'.בפינה גת וטבון, עצי זית, גפן וחלקת חיטה קטנה המסמלים את קבלת השבת ומייצגים את שלוש הברכות שמבוססות על פירותיהם: השמן - "להדליק נר של שבת", הענבים - "בורא פרי הגפן", והחיטה - "המוציא לחם מן הארץ". טקס קבלת השבת מוצג כדרך לשימור והעברה של זיכרונות יהודיים המשותפים לכלל קהילת ישראל בארץ ובתפוצות.

The Flock of Sheep
Text is turned into texture as we create a modern midrash of "I will gather the strays of my flock from all of the countries which I drove them, and bring them back to their folds; and then they will be fruitful and increase." Jeremiah 23:3. Mosaic floor tiles incorporate the tallit, Israeli flag, and the world Jewish community - and together speak to the centrality of the Land of Israel for the Jewish people.

The assortment of natural herbs helps celebrate differences of all kinds - between Shabbat and the rest of the week, different peoples, and different sects within Judaism.

גינת התבלנים והבשמים מהווה רקע לברכת ההבדלה - "המבדיל בין קודש לחול…" בברכה אין העדפה של האור על פני החושך או של יום השבת על פני ששת ימי המעשה, בברכה זו חוגגת היהדות את ההבדלים בעולמנו ואנו מוסיפים לה גם את ההבדלים בין דעותיהם של בני האדם וכן בין הזרמים השונים ביהדות.

The Path of Seven Species and the Four Species
This beautiful path illustrates the role of the Seven Species in Jewish culture. Flourishing along the way is each of the species, indigenous to the Land of Israel, every one identified by a Biblical quote. This path connects with the path of the Four Species of Sukkot.

Miriam's Well
This large well and fountain is a celebration of women in Jewish tradition. It is decorated with concrete relief and mosaics illustrating 16 different female heroines in Jewish life including Sarah, Leah, Devorah, and Bruria. It is based on the passage, "And Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a timbrel and all of the women went out after her in dance."

באר מרים
"ותקח מרים הנביאה אחות אהרן את התף בידה ותצאן כל הנשים אחריה בתפים ובמחולות", שמות פרק טו':כ'. בעקבות מרים הנביאה והמדרש המתאר כי בזכותה, ליוותה את בני ישראל במדבר, באר פלאית. בחרנו בבאר המים לייצג את הנשים בתרבות היהודית. על דופן הבאר מצויים פסיפסים של 16 נשים שהיוו דמויות מפתח בהסטוריה היהודית כמו שרה, לאה, דבורה, ברוריה, ועוד. הבאר מזמינה לעסוק בנושאים הקשורים במנהיגות ונשים, שוויון המינים, תפקיד האישה בחברה וביהדות.
